Safety Retrofit Notification

GCC Technologies, Inc. of Bedford, MA has been notified by Xerox International Partners, of Palo Alto, CA, (XIP), of a product safety retrofit which will be required on all GCC Elite XL 408, XL 608, XL 608LC, XL 616, XL 808, XL 1208 and XL 1208S. The engines for these printers were supplied by XIP to GCC Technologies and sold by GCC Technologies to its resellers and customers between 1994 and 2000.

This retrofit has been prescribed as a result of 2 (two) overheating/fire incidents reported on a similar products in Japan. Although the probability of overheating/fire occurring in the printers is extremely low (over 500,000 of these printers were produced and sold), GCC wants our customers to be advised of this issue. Please note that the following precautionary steps should be followed until your machine is retrofitted:

Power off the printers when they are unattended.
Ensure that the "power save" mode is enabled.
