Mac OS X Native Applications

GCC's testing department has discovered a printing problem between some of our PostScript printer models and the released version of Mac OS X when printing from 'native' OS X applications. This problem is exhibited as large black areas being printed on the page where the text is placed.

Affected GCC printers include:

  • Elite XL 20 Series (20/600, 20/800, 20/1200)
  • Elite 12 Series (12/600, 12/600N, 12/600USB, 1212, 12/1200N)
  • Elite XL 8 & 16 Series* (608, 608LC, 616, 808, 1208, 1208S)

GCC Engineering has determined a solution to this issue and has released a customer installable ROM module that addresses the issue. Updates are available for the 8ppm, 16ppm, 12ppm and 20ppm models.

Again, this issue only relates to printing from OS X native applications and does not affect users printing from Mac OS 9.1 or earlier, or from the Classic environment within OS X.

For users under original warranty or covered by GCC Platinum Exchange the Firmware update will be provided at no additional charge upon request. All others may purchase the Firmware update directly from GCC technical support by calling Technical Support at 781-276-8620 M-F 8:30-7:00 EST.
