PR018 April 1996 Technical BulletinReverse Type on Elite XLThis bulletin is being provided to our authorized dealers & service centers to familiarize you with a print quality issue on the Elite XL printer series. GCC has identified a print quality issue where the edges of reverse type print out slightly blurred on some Elite XL printers. See Figure 1. We determined that this effect is caused by low humidity during colder weather.
GCC performed extensive testing with the Elite XL printer using a controlled environmental chamber at a room temperature of 25° C. At a relative humidity of 0%, the blurred reverse type was unacceptable. We found that, as humidity levels increase, this effect is diminished. A relative humidity level of no less than 54% and no greater than 85% achieved the best results. We also found output improvement was achieved with the toner density dial is set to 'high' (this dial is located at the back of the printer. See Figure 2.)
The best output will be obtained when both toner and humidity levels are adjusted to these specifications.
