Elite 12 Series Service Errors
Note: if any of the following error codes appear on your Elite 12's front panel, you should
immediately take the printer to an authorized GCC Service Center for repair.
- ROM Error: 0x04 - ROM checksum failed. Replace ROM SIMM first, then the Elite
12 Series controller board.
- CPU Error: 0x08, 0x09, 0x0A, 0x0B, 0x0C, 0x0D, 0x0E - One of the CPU tests failed.
Replace the Elite 12 Series controller board.
- Data Cache Error: 0x0E - The Data cache test failed. Replace the Elite 12 Series
controller board.
- RAM Error: 0x10, 0x11, 0x12, 0x13, 0x14, 0x15, 0x16 - One of the internal RAM
tests failed. Check the seating of the RAM. Reseat RAM SIMM first, then replace the Elite
12 Series controller board.
- SCSI Error: 0x20 - The SCSI test failed. Replace the Elite 12 Series controller
board.
- SCC Error: 0x30 - The SCC test failed. Replace the Elite 12 Series controller
board.
- EEROM Error: 0x40, 0x41 - The EEROM test failed. Replace the Elite 12 Series
controller board.
- Service Error 10 - An ROS motor abnormality has been detected. This service error
indicates a motor problem in the Raster Output Scanner (ROS).
- Service Error 11 - A non-volatile RAM error has been detected in the engine. An
error occurred while reading or writing the non-volatile RAM on the Engine Control Board (MCU
PWB).
- Service Error 12 - A fan abnormality has been detected. The fuser fan is not
operating correctly.
- Service Error 13 - A fuser error has been detected. An error occurred in the Fuser
assembly, either because the proper temperature could not be reached or a component is
behaving abnormally. The fuser assembly normally needs to be replaced every 100,000
pages.
- Service Error 20 - An unknown engine error has occurred. This error indicates that
an unexpected response was received from the print engine. Check the power and interface
cables to the Elite 12 Series controller. Next, try replacing the Elite 12 Series controller board.
If the problem continues, go back to the original Elite 12 Series controller and replace the
Engine Control Board (MCU PWB).
- Service Error 21 - No printer power. The Elite 12 Series controller has detected that
the print engine does not have power. Look for bad contacts or a bad power supply.
- Service errors 100-1FF - These errors indicate a bad trap. For these errors, check
the processor, ROM, and memory for bad contacts.
Here are some of the more common bad traps: 00, 01, 06, 07, 10, 11, 12, 13, 16, 18-1D,
27-29, 38, 3A-3F.
